Running on Low Disk Space
I cannot believe this... My laptop's memory is going kapuuuuut.
I am sooo heartbroken.
What happens when the computer says that you're running on low disk space on one of your drives? Days ago, I have gigabytes of space there. And then just today, it says "You are running very low on disk space..." How did that happen?
It says that my Drive C has only 330 MB of free space. My other drive still has gigabytes of space. Anyway, I tried going through every folder and even deleting some games!
Still, no space available. There's this almost 2 GB of disk space unaccounted for. I tried to select the SHOW HIDDEN FILES option in the FOLDER OPTIONS... Then I pressed the APPLY button. But nothing shows up! It's impossible. I'm really sure that something is HIDDEN...
I'm so sad because I just got this laptop reformatted last summer. And now, here we go again. Looks like I have to reformat this again. This is very much tedious work for my dad. Poor him.
Mind you, I don't use this often anymore... I think my brothers and sisters are to blame for this phenomenon. Lolz... My bad.
But I have a big hunch that they're the ones who were introducing viruses into this computer. Opening links and playing games over the internet. Darn... Didn't they know that the Internet is one big pool of viruses and worms and whatever stuff?
*sigh*
I told them to be more careful in using this. Haay. This is really depressing. I have only two people who can fix this for me... One is my dad. I know he'll do this for me... But not now. He's tooo busy. And the other one is my bestfriend John... who has a girlfriend who's totally jealous of me. :(
What shall I do?

Buy an external hard drive. After that, password-protect your laptop from now on.

but before you use another harddrive, still you must solve your problem.. =)
try cleaning your harddisk.. windows has a tool for that.. you may also be a victim of a virus or trojan that copies files eternally, until the hard disk is full.. that is possible..

I have yet to buy one, but I still have 80 gigabytes of space, so there's no rush.
I agree with chivalry. It would be better to fix your current diskspace problem first. I'm a Mac user so I don't know the name of the program, but I do remember that Windows 95 has a program for maximizing space in the hard disk. later Windows versions surely have that too.

I agree. My dad just got home... Hopefully, we'll get this problem fixed. I think I have a virus or trojan here. :(

PROBLEM FIXED. :)
Here's what we did...
1. Restart laptop.
2. Press F8 during boot.
3. Run in Safe Mode with Networking.
4. Downloaded registry file to fix the problem regarding the hidden files that do not show.
5. Merged the registry file.
6. Now that hidden files are viewable, we deleted all the autorun.inf files in each drives.
7. Opened the WINDOWS folder in DRIVE C, which was more than 8GB! Woah!
8. Searched for the folder with the largest size... It's the hidden folder named "Installers".
9. Deleted the whole folder.
10. Looked for other suspicious files and deleted them.
11. Shut down computer.
And it's fixed! :D
Now running Registry Mechanic to fix some files. Yey! Thanks to Papa!

^ I was surprised nga that you hesitated to get your dad's help. Ama mo iyan. Mahal ka niyan. Di ka tatanggihan niyan. ;-)
Now, guard your laptop with your life, and don't let your siblings install stuff or visit unfamiliar websites that automatically install stuff.

it's good to hear that your laptop is fixed. :) if you use Firefox, try installing the McAfee SiteAdvisor and Web of Trust plugins. these plugins tell you if the site you're visiting is potentially dangerous. but if you don't use Firefox, then switch to Firefox. hehe. they say it's more secure. :)

i recommend installing NoScript in Firefox.. block those scripts before they harm your PC.. if you really need to visit untrusted or malicious sites, you'll still be safe.. it will allow you to allow or not allow each script on every site.. =)

Onga eh. Problem ko lang with NoScript, di ko makita lahat ng apps sa friendster. Hehe. Pati yung sa ibang sites. :P Pero okay lang... At least I have the feeling na "safe" ang pag browse ko sa net. Grabe talaga yung virus na yun! ~8GB ang inoccupy!

you can allow scripts naman sa trusted sites eh.. and sa mga frequently visited, you permanently allow them.. =)
